Today I received the
latest information about Leitz Park III from Roland Elbert of Leica Camera AG
in Wetzlar. It is a panorama view made
from the top of the Leica headquarters with Weller Feinwerktechnik on the
right, Viaoptik in the middle and the new Leitz Park III to the left.
Construction has proceeded
to the point that the individual buildings are getting close to their final
appearance. The new building for CW
Sonderoptik is on the immediate left of Viaoptic. Immediately behind is the building which will
house facilities for the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (Technical College
of Middle Hesse). The building to the
left, in the background, will house “Leica Welt” (Leica World), which will
include
the Leica Museum, the
Leica Archives, the Leica Academie and the Leica Outlet Storere. Finally to the
very left is the 4+ star Ernst Leitz Hotel.
Leitz Park III is
scheduled to be completed later on this year.
